Once you upgrade Rifter through the Forge turning it into Riftrazor, be aware that you CAN purchase again the Rifter through the Combat Rank Barracks. 


Alex Reeve The plan right now is to allow both, because a) it's not really that imbalanced and b) it's a pain to change this around. If I'm wrong about (a) I can fix it, but it seems fine. Note this won't work with Collection upgrades anyway because those are one-off.

NOTE:

This unit dropped as useful when units as Photonic Shield, Righteous Barricade and Colossus were released. Their three procs can reduces by -3 each damage, doing more efect on Flurry type damage...  5 flurries for 2-4 damage reduced in -3 each one can be easily doing ZERO damage.

Tainted Blade returned to be useful after the Equalizer release (Eq rally by +2 all your units' damage) so in average, and taking in count that Eq has better rate than the combined three rates, the balance were positive enough for Tainted Blade.

The Thunderous Siege ability was before: 60% chance to cause 6 flurry hits for 1 - 5 damage (10.8 avg dmg). The update intend to bump up the Rifter's damage ability against the damage reductions brought with Colossus, Righteous Barricade and Photonic Shield.
